Sending cargo to Nepal: what to prepare

A clear destination and accurate package details make it easier to discuss a shipment to Nepal. Start by explaining what you want to send and where the recipient needs to receive it.

Describe the complete destination

State whether the receiving address is in Kathmandu or another location. Ask whether the proposed arrangement ends at an airport, an office collection point or the recipient's address. Do not infer nationwide delivery from the existence of a Kathmandu office.

Check the receiver's phone number and availability. If someone else will receive the goods on their behalf, ask the team what arrangements need to be made. Do not publish personal identification or shipment documents in a public message.

Prepare the package information

  • List the contents and purpose of the shipment.
  • Number the packages and record final packed dimensions and weights.
  • Declare devices, batteries, liquids and other contents needing an acceptance check.
  • Explain the ready date and any timing constraints.
  • Ask which documents and recipient information must be checked before dispatch.

Confirm the practical details

Ask what the quote includes and which destination charges may be separate. Confirm where the delivery estimate starts and ends. A transport estimate is not a guarantee of customs clearance or onward delivery by a particular date.

Keep a written record of the agreed handover arrangements. If the contents, address or piece count changes, update the enquiry before booking. The Nepal office page provides contact details for the Kathmandu team.
