What should a door-to-door shipping quote explain?

Door-to-door wording should be supported by a clear scope. Ask the provider to identify the collection point, destination delivery point and any responsibilities or charges that remain with the sender or receiver.

Identify both addresses and access needs

Give the complete collection and delivery addresses. Mention stairs, vehicle-access restrictions, building opening times and any need for loading assistance. Ask whether the agreed delivery is to a reception, kerbside, doorway or another specified point.

Confirm who will be available at each handover. Do not assume the provider will unpack goods, remove packaging or arrange access inside a building unless this has been agreed.

Check the scope in writing

  • Collection and any packing assistance.
  • Origin handling and transport.
  • Destination clearance arrangements and who supplies the information.
  • Final delivery area and handover point.
  • Separate duties, taxes, storage or other charges where applicable.
  • What happens if delivery cannot be completed as arranged.

Confirm availability before relying on the term

Ask Goldcross Cargo which collection and delivery arrangements are available for your actual route and addresses. This guide does not promise a door-to-door service in every country or postcode.

Read the quotation and relevant conditions together. If an item is unclear, ask for clarification before booking. A low transport figure does not establish the total cost, and a destination address in an enquiry does not itself confirm that final delivery has been accepted.
