Ask where the estimate starts and ends
An estimate may start from collection, cargo acceptance or departure. It may end at arrival, release or final delivery. Ask the provider to state these points and whether the estimate is expressed in working days or calendar days.
Explain the date the goods will actually be packed and ready. If you need them for an event, a business deadline or a move, tell the team before booking. Avoid making a dependent commitment on the basis of a general website estimate.
Check the stages in the plan
- Collection or agreed handover.
- Acceptance, documentation checks and any preparation.
- Available transport and any onward connection.
- Destination handling and clearance arrangements.
- Recipient collection or final delivery, if included.
Keep the shipment information consistent
Missing details, changed contents or unavailable recipient contacts can require further coordination. Respond promptly when the team needs information and confirm who should receive updates. Ask how changes to the estimate will be communicated.
